WODs of Thunder

I’m a bit behind on this, but I thought I’d do a little write-up on my impressions of the Third Annual WODs of Thunder down at CrossFit Endemic. It happened this past Saturday and had an amazing turnout. They had 26 teams competing from all over the region and man was the place hopping!

We had three teams competing from CrossFit Continuum, so my wife, youngest, and I headed down to cheer them on for a while in the middle of the day. It was my first time there, but Ev and AJ had both been there before. It’s one of AJ’s favorite boxes just because of how well laid out it is – lots of room and equipment to fill it. 🙂

Parking was the first clue just how crazy this event was – we had to hike quite a ways after parking to get back to the facility. And once we got inside, there were people everywhere. The middle of the box was cordoned off for competitors and the outside was for spectators.

Though it was busy, it was amazingly well managed. Emcee Ray Martinez kept folks entertained and enthused about the competition during and between each event. And all the volunteers and judges kept things moving right along like a well oiled machine.

We quickly found some of our fellow Continuum family and cheered them on – but we also had friends from other boxes competing from CrossFit 719, CrossFit Decimate, and CrossFit SoCo, so there was always something going on.

Our teams did really well, coming in 6th, 11th, and 16th out of the 26 teams competing. And we had a blast encouraging everybody (whether we knew them or not) on to great things. We didn’t stay for the whole thing, but it was fun. 🙂

Here are a few pictures that Ev took of the events…

Great work to everybody who participated and to everybody at Endemic who put on such a great competition!
